Migration guide · Obsidian → Newral
Your Obsidian vaultdoes not need to be imported.
To move from Obsidian to Newral, simply open your existing vault folder. Newral reads your Markdown notes and [[wiki]] links directly: there is no export, copy or proprietary format to convert.
The principle
One folder. Two possible tools.
Newral does not pull your library into a remote database. The selected folder remains the source of truth: you can back it up, version it and open it again in Obsidian.
Procedure
Move to Newral in three steps.

Back up the vault
Make a copy of your folder before opening it in Newral. Your files stay protected while you discover your new workspace.

Open Newral
From Chrome or Edge on a desktop, launch Newral and choose a local folder. No Newral account is required for local use.

Select and start
Choose the folder containing your notes, then allow the browser to access it. Your file tree appears in Newral so you can carry on working.

The essentials come with you.
Newral carries over the two open foundations of your Obsidian vault. Your notes and the relationships between them are ready without rebuilding your workspace.
Markdown notes and folders
Your Markdown file tree opens directly in Newral, with the same files and titles.

Your wikilinks keep connecting notes and become the connections in Newral’s knowledge graph.
